Our Eco Council
The Eco Council have been elected and are keen to start work to achieve the Green Flag award!
The aim of our Student Voice is to give the children in our school a voice in making decisions that affect everyone.
Our Student Voice consists of our School Council and Eco Council. We try to meet weekly or fortnightly. School Council and Eco Council often will meet jointly, but also meet individually. At the beginning of the school year, each class thought about the British Value of Democracy and voted to elect members of our School and Eco Council. In Silsoe Lower School, we are committed to taking care of our school, the local area and being aware of the impact we can have on the environment. The Eco- Council is beginning to work towards our Green-Flag Award! We are really excited to think of ways we can become more sustainable and eco-friendly as a school. This includes putting our action plan into affect. We will be working with the rest of the children and adults in our school but watch out parents because we are going to need your help! Working together we have previously achieved the Silver award . To do this the Eco Council, have completed a survey of the activities and habits within the school linking with the environment including turning off lights, recycling and use of water. Then using this information they then fed back to the Eco Council and Student Council on their findings. We are really looking forward to ensuring our school becomes more eco-friendly and sustainable! |
