PE Days

Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday

Your child will need to come to school in their PE Kit on these days. School PE kit is: plain black jogging bottoms/leggings (no logo please), a white T-shirt or school PE top and plimsolls/trainers. The children may also wear their school jumper/cardigan on PE days in the colder weather.

Reading Books

Your child will read to an adult in school most days. Please ensure that your child has their book in school each day. Please support your child with their reading and sounds at home by sharing your child’s book with them and making a note in their reading diary.

Our Topics are:

  • Amazing animals (1st half term)
  • Where shall we go? (2nd half term)

For our topic on 'Amazing Animals' we will be learning:

  • That animals can be big or small.
  • About the different environments animals live in.
  • About different types of animals for example mammals, insects and sea creatures.
  • About animal life cycles.

For our topic on 'Where shall we go' we will be learning:

  • About similarities and differences between life in this country and other countries.
  • How transport has changed.
  • About different landmarks around the world.
  • How the weather is different across the world.
  • To use a map to locate different countries.

The children in reception might like to read:
Information books about different countries, animals and weather. Additionally, using an Atlas. This will help with our topic work.

To help with our Literacy work it would be great if you could:

  • Read with your child at least four times a week.
  • Practice writing the lower case letters correctly.
  • Help your child to write simple words and sentences.

To help with our Mathematics work it would be great if you could:

  • Play number games or sing number rhymes for the numbers from 1-20.
  • Help your child to recognise and write the numbers from 0-20. Make the numbers using play dough, write them or paint them.
  • Look at all the different number bonds to 5.
  • Look at doubling and halving a number to 10.
  • Identify odd and even numbers.
