Celebrating Success at Silsoe

At Silsoe VC Lower School, we believe that every child has something special to celebrate. Guided by our Christian vision, “For all to flourish as confident, resilient and kind individuals who encourage one another and grow together in God’s love” (Ephesians 3:17), we recognise and celebrate children’s achievements, efforts, progress and contributions to school life.

Our approach to celebrating success reflects our high expectations, inclusive ethos and commitment to nurturing confidence, resilience and kindness. We encourage children to take pride in their achievements, recognise the successes of others and understand that learning, perseverance and personal growth are all worth celebrating.

Weekly Celebration Collective Worship

Each week, our school community comes together for Celebration Collective Worship, where we recognise children who demonstrate our school values and positive attitudes towards learning.

• Behaviour for Learning Star – Awarded to children who demonstrate positive learning behaviours, including perseverance, determination, resilience and a willingness to challenge themselves and keep trying.
• Values Leaf – Awarded to children who put our school values into action, showing kindness, care, respect and encouragement towards others, with particular recognition of our focus value of the month.

Children receiving these awards are invited to enjoy a special Hot Chocolate with the Headteacher, providing an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and share their successes.

Celebrating Individual Achievements

Throughout the school day, children are recognised and encouraged for their efforts, positive choices and achievements.

Our ClassDojo reward system celebrates positive learning behaviours, resilience, kindness and personal progress. Children earn Dojo points in recognition of their efforts and achievements, encouraging them to take pride in their learning, develop confidence and continue striving to do their best.

We recognise that success looks different for every child and celebrate individual progress, personal milestones and achievements in all areas of school life.

Celebrating Class Achievements

We also recognise the importance of working together, supporting one another and contributing positively to our school community.

Classes earn Class Dojo points for teamwork, cooperation, positive behaviour and collective achievements. These celebrations encourage children to recognise the importance of shared responsibility, mutual respect and celebrating the successes of others.
