Welcome to the PTA section of the website!
Welcome to Silsoe Lower School and welcome to the PTA! All parents, carers, teachers and governors are automatically considered members of our PTA. We have a core committee comprising of Co-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Communications officer – your committee this year are:
We also have several co-opted members and many people who just attend meetings when they can and we all work together with the joint aim of raising funds to buy additional resources for the school and children to provide a more enriched learning experience.
What sort of things do you do?
Many fun events take place throughout the year for both children and parents/carers to get involved in.
During the last academic year (2018-19), we organised a number of Christmas events (carol singing; Christmas raffle; Secret Santa shop) as well as our infamous PTA Quiz night, Give A Book! Fundraiser and book donation scheme, and the hugely popular school Discos.
What is the money spent on?
The on-going support and incredibly generous donations received from our school families allows our children to benefit from additional resources that the school budget alone cannot stretch to. These are some of the things we have purchased in the last few years:
We also contribute towards school travel costs each year, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
I don't have much time - can I still get involved?
We would love you to come along to meetings and help plan new and exciting events for everyone to enjoy. We would like to meet you and hear about your ideas/skills that can help with our fundraising. Anything you can do is a help – getting together a quiz team, helping at the disco, purchasing raffle tickets are ways to show your support, too.
How do I get started?
The PTA communicates by email and a closed Facebook group – search for Friends of Silsoe Lower School and sign up to our mailing list at silsoelowerschoolpta@yahoo.co.uk
Or just join us at our next meeting - no commitment required!
