The older children completed a tricky construction project where they needed to decide which shapes would provide a strong enough structure to support an object. We discovered that triangles were more effective than squares and rectangles.
The older children also took part in an online escape room challenge, solving problems and mathematical questions to find the code in order to escape!
Reception made amazing number characters to consolidate their recognition of numbers to 10. We then enjoyed using our number puppets to create stories and sing songs!
Year 1 learnt more about money and completed a reasoning task about how to sort and organise data and Year 2 made ‘multiple monsters’ using the idea of paper dolls to help us remember how to count in different steps.
We all had great fun and have learnt lots of new Maths skills we will be able to use in the future.
It was also fantastic to be able to share some more information about calculation methods in our virtual information sessions for parents.
Please see the information leaflets in the Maths section of the website for further information if you were unable to attend.
