At 11.00am on 11th November 2020 every member of Silsoe VC Lower School joined together on the playground. We stood in socially distanced lines but we were still able to pause for a few minutes and reflect on the sacrifice of so many.
We came together and thought about why a poppy is worn and why we ‘Remember’. One of our pupils read a poem and we followed this with a 2 minutes silence. I was extremely proud of the respect that all of our children displayed during this time by maintaining the silence and reflecting.
We closed our act of remembrance with an extract from the poem “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
