This week we celebrated Silsoe Sports Week! Throughout the week all of the children in school have had a chance to experience and compete (on both a personal and competitive level) in a number of different activities including gymnastics, Judo, rounders, cricket, athletics and Paralympic sports – just to name a few!
The children all showed amazing perseverance and determination as well as showing all their school values such as respect, co-operation, love and care to their peers. Many teams were awarded extra points for sportsmanship which we are really proud of.
This week each class attended a session at the Silsoe Community Sports Centre. This was a fantastic opportunity and was well supported by all our parents and carers. We are so lucky that the Sports Centre and their staff were willing to support us again this year. THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU from all of us at Silsoe!
To finish our week we all completed laps of the Silsoe Circuit to raise money for our PTA. This was a personal challenge which every single child in the school rose to. We were so impressed with the determination shown by all the runners. You made our whole school very proud and we hope you are proud of yourselves too. We then shared in a healthy drink and snack provided by our fantastic PTA! (Thank-you!)
Alister also returned on Friday with an amazing ‘spin art’ bike which Year 2, 3 and 4 enjoyed using to create their own totally unique pieces of art. A fantastic experience for us all! Thank-you Alister!
Finally, we gathered together for our weekly celebration worship. It was amazing to see approximately 40 of you with sports medals, certificates and achievements to share with us. We then also celebrated the final scores of our week….
RED – 1100
BLUE – 1110
WHITE - 1114
We clapped our peers and celebrated our winning WHITE team.
A fantastic week had by all!
Well Done Silsoe and a HUGE thank-you to everyone who made it possible.
